Copaiba Essential Oil (Copaiba reticulata), the newest and exclusive essential oil from our Ecuador farm, a powerful essential oil from South America that has traditionally been used to aid digestion and support the body's natural response to injury or irritation (scientific research not yet available). Copaiba contains the highest amounts of beta caryophyllene (55 percent) of any known essential oil. Copaiba essential oil is extracted from the oleoresin of several different species of Copaifera, including multijuga, langsdorffii, and reticulata. Traditionally used in Native American recipes, today copaiba is featured in European and North American pharmacopeias.
Copaiba is the only essential oil extracted through tapping, similar to how rubber and maple are obtained. Once tapped, the copaiba resin is distilled to produce a clear essential oil that has a rich, uplifting, woody smell. Only copaiba essential oil found near the Amazon rain forest basin contains the optimal natural compounds needed for a Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ essential oil. The trees are the largest and oldest in the forest from 50 to 60 to 70 feet tall. Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometer testing shows copaiba contains high levels of beta caryophyllene, gamma elemene, and alpha humalene, used in the past to aid the natural processes of redness and irritation of body tissue.
Virtually all companies who offer copaiba or copal sell only the tree resin, not the distilled essential oil. Copaiba resin (what is tapped from the copaiba tree) has been used for hundreds of years as an incense (copal means incense) in some Central and South American cultures. Copaiba oleoresin and essential oil was first recorded in European medicine journals in 1625. Copaiba was also listed in the US Pharmacopia from 1820-1910 but was subsequently dropped as were most natural plant remedies due to the formulation of antibiotics and synthetics. Copaiba essential oil contains the highest amounts of beta caryophyllene (55 percent), which is a sesquiterpene, of any known essential oil. Copaiba contains 60 percent sesquiterpenes which make it very powerful and effective as well as a magnifier when combined with another oil. Most oils contain 9-14 percent sesquiterpenes so combining Copaiba with other therpeutic grade essential oils will provide the missing sesquiterpenes and magnify the power of both oils. For instance, combine a drop of White Angelica with a drop of Copaiba to increase your spiritual connection by 15 times!
Spiritual Uses: In many traditions, the conscious, active mind is considered an obstacle to spirituality, because it pulls us away from focusing on what is truly important. Copaiba balm brings discernment, helping us to focus on what is truly meaningful from a spiritual perspective. It also helps us to be more effective at dealing with the less important aspects of our lives. When our mind is aligned with the divine, the gifts of vision, faith, humility and wisdom are bestowed. Use during times of mental stress and confusion, to identify and reconnect with our spiritual goals, to help us focus on what is spiritually important, when we are spending too much time thinking about the future or reviewing the past, to give us wisdom in a particular situation. Aligns the human mind with the spiritual mind, by connecting the 3rd Eye and Crown Chakras. Apply to top of head, centre of forehead and feet. Affirmation: "May I be focused and attuned to the divine". The natives of the Amazon use Copaiba to connect with the Creator in their spiritual practices.
How to Use: Take copaiba internally in a ingestible vegetable capsule or massage a few drops onto your skin to discover this oil's remarkable restorative properties. Combine with any other of our oils to magnify the purpose of the oil.
